According to an IBJA spokesperson, the ministry has told the president of India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) that they are ready to discuss to find a solution, where jewelers can be benefitted; and not face harassment.
Following this IBJA issued a statement, calling a meeting to discuss the issue further; and added that the indefinite strike will continue till the excise was completely withdrawn.
An excise duty of 1% was proposed in the Indian Union Budget, opposing which all Indian jewelers were on strike from March 1.
