Lucapa, partners expedite Lulo kimberlite exploration

01 june 2017
Lucapa Diamond and its partners have managed to speed up the Lulo kimberlite exploration programme in Angola following the end of the wet season, which restricted work during the last two quarters.
The ASX-listed company said that the availability of additional drilling rigs had also helped improve drilling across its priority targets, including L13, e14, L15 and L242.
“The major objective for us is to locate the primary kimberlite source or sources of the exceptional alluvial diamonds we have been recovering at Lulo. While it is still early days, we are already seeing very encouraging results in the coarse material and contained indicator minerals,” said Lucapa managing director Stephen Wetherall.
“The preliminary analysis of the TDEM (Time Domain Electromagnetic) data has already resulted in the discovery of the L14 kimberlite pipe, within our high-priority area and just 2km upstream of Mining Block 8 on the Caculio River."
He said the final analysis and interpretation of the TDEM survey data was expected to further refine existing targets and identify new targets to be drilled this year.
