New appointments at ALROSA

Mikhail Ryazanov was appointed Adviser to the President of ALROSA and will oversee labor protection and industrial safety, the company's press service said on Tuesday. "The accident at the Mir mine last August forced us to seriously analyze and revise the basic approaches to ensuring the safety of production. We need a package of measures that will include both structural reforms, extensive staff training, and the formation of the appropriate culture in the company, and much more. Mikhail Ryazanov will lead the vertical of this service, which will be fully responsible for this line of activity," President of ALROSA Sergey Ivanov said commenting on the appointment. Mikhail Ryazanov was born in 1969 in the town of Teikovo in the Ivanovo Region. He graduated from the Vladimir State Technical University with a degree in Civil Engineering, as well as the Modern Humanitarian Institute, majoring in Jurisprudence. In 2008 he received the MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics in Russia. Since 2005, Mikhail Ryazanov headed the labor protection and industrial safety services in major mining holdings in Russia and Ukraine: Severstal-Resurs; Donbass Fuel-Energy Company (DTEK) and Siberian Coal and Energy Company.
On Thursday, the company's press service also reported that Nyurgun Zakharov was appointed Chief Engineer of the Mir Mining Division. He has been engaged at ALROSA for more than 10 years and until recently was the Chief Engineer of the Mir Specialized Mine Construction Department. Nyurgun Zakharov is a well-known specialist in his field - in 2014 he became the winner of the 1st Republican Contest "I am an engineer". Nyurgun Zakharov was born in 1984 in the village of Ytyk-Kuel of the Alekseevsky District of the Yakut ASSR. In 2007, he graduated from the Moscow State Mining University with a degree in Underground Mining. In 2007-2010 he worked as a miner at the Internatsionalny Diamond Mine. In 2010, he was appointed Head of the Ore Management Technical Bureau of the Mir Mining Division. In 2012-2014, he was Deputy Chief Engineer for Mining at Internatsionalny. In 2014, he became Deputy Production Manager, and in February 2017 - Chief Engineer of the Mir Specialized Mine Construction Department.
