The Herald quoted mines minister Winston Chitando as saying that he had appointed a new board for the company that would help boost the output from 1.8 million carats produced in 2017.
Mining engineer Killiam Ukama would chair the ZCDC board.
“He has worked for many years as a mining engineer in the country, working with the likes of Rio Tinto, ZMDC and Zimasco,” said Chitando.
Other members appointed were geologist Ellah Muchemwa, Elizabeth Nerwande Chibanda and Zenzo Nsimbi.
Three serving members Esau Chiadzwa, Alexander Mukwekwezeke and Niya Mtombeni were retained.
ZCDC produced 1 million carats in the first quarter of 2018 and was targeting an output of 3 million carats by the end of the year.
