Bharat Diamond Week begins in Mumbai with confidence

Speaking at the event, Anoop Mehta, President, BDB said that it has been decided by the bourse to henceforth conduct the Fair twice a year as well. He thought that it is imperative to get world buyers visiting and networking in India, as 80 percent of diamonds are cut and polished here. Mehta also expressed hope that Russia will open up its consumer sector for Indian jewellery, while India will in turn use Russia's rough diamonds. Welcoming the guests and wishing the participants good business, Mehta announced that the 2019 shows will be held during April 1 -3 and October 14-16.

Appreciating India's natural diamond industry, Evgeny Agureev of ALROSA commented that the relationship between Russia and India is now better than ever before. He also stressed that ALROSA will sell only natural diamonds. "With 52 per cent of ALROSA's sales is for India at present, we intend to give complete support to the BDB as well as the Indian diamond industry," Agureev added.
Recalling the long relationship of Russia with India, the Russian Consul General in India, Andrey Zhiltsov hoped that both the countries will work more actively in the diamond industry.
While thanking all from BDB who have put the Show together, Mehul Shah, Vice President, BDB said he looks forward for better ties in the future.
