By 2030, gold mining companies in Yakutia may increase production volumes by approximately 37% compared to 2023, to 65 - 70 tons per year, according to the minister of industry and geology of the republic Maxim Tereshchenko.
A number of high-ranking officials said that about 50 tons of gold were mined in Yakutia last year, making it the second-largest gold producing region in Russia. The industry brings in about 17 billion rubles per year to its budget.
RIA Novosti quotes the first deputy chairman of the government of Yakutia, Dzhulustan Borisov, as saying at the Golden Age of Yakutia forum that in 2023, gold mining industry of the region attracted a record investment of 53.2 billion rubles, 20 billion rubles more than in 2022.
The mining industry accounts for 62.5% of Yakutia's gross regional product.
In January-September 2024, Yakutia's mining companies increased gold production by 3.3% to 37.8 tons. Yakutia’s ministry of industry and trade expects gold production in 2024 to grow by approximately 6% to 53 tons.
