The ALROSA Supervisory Board has approved a new Sustainable Development Program for 2025-2029 to meet the modern challenges of a dynamically changing business environment.

The company notes that the key goal of the program is to maintain a focus on the development of regions of its presence, take more ambitious commitments in reducing the impact on the climate and the environment, and make sustainable development the most important principle of the company and its supply chain.

"In our new Program, we have retained the key strategic areas - providing adequate and safe working conditions, maintaining a favourable environment and climate, developing the regions of our presence, improving the efficiency of management systems that underlie the work of the ALROSA Group in the field of sustainable development, national diamond industry progression and the national ESG agenda, and also reflect the company's contribution to achieving the 13 priority UN Sustainable Development Goals," said ALROSA CEO Pavel Marinychev.

The press service of the diamond mining company reports that most of the tasks of the previous program for 2021-2025 were completed ahead of schedule. This required updating the goals and objectives for the next five-year period in order to meet the modern challenges of a dynamically changing environment, identify additional areas which require ALROSA’s attention.

By 2030, the company expects to meet carbon neutrality goals for its diamond products by improving the energy efficiency and increasing the share of renewable energy sources, implementing a project to absorb and store CO2 in kimberlite rock.

In addition, ALROSA is committed to ensuring adequate and safe working conditions, gender equality, and expanding social support programs for employees. The complete elimination of fatal injuries, accidents and disasters remains one of the company's top priorities.
