Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) is set to change its company’s name to Valterra Platinum subject to obtaining the necessary shareholder approval.
However, the company will remain listed in the platinum group metals (PGMs) subsector of the JSE's main board.
The move comes ahead of Amplats’ unbundling from parent company Anglo American.
Anglo American is currently implementing several major structural changes to unlock the inherent value in its portfolio and thereby accelerate the delivery of its strategic priorities of Operational Excellence, Portfolio simplification, and Growth.
This portfolio transformation will focus Anglo American on its world-class resource asset base in copper, premium iron ore and crop nutrients, once the sale of its steelmaking coal and nickel
businesses, the demerger of its PGMs business, and the separation of De Beers have been completed.
