Police in Namibia arrested a third suspect in the theft of diamonds at the state-owned Namib Desert Diamonds company (Namdia) on 18 January.
The suspect, identified as Samuel Shipanga, appeared in court this week after he was charged with theft of the rough diamonds, according to Informante.
State Prosecutor Rowan van Wyk said two more suspects were also arrested in Keetmanshoop.
Prosecution opposed bail for Shipanga saying he was a flight risk.
The suspect, a security guard for a private security company, is said to have responded to the robbery.
Meanwhile, the court heard that the Namibian police are working with the South African Police Service concerning diamonds that were sold to the neighbouring country.
It was not clear how many carats were sold in South Africa.
The case was postponed to 17 June 2025 for further investigations.
NAMDIA recently said that police have recovered diamonds valued at N$40.6 million ($2.2 million), out of the total N$314.9 million ($17.3 million) stolen by the armed robbers.
