Guinea has stripped Endeavour Mining of four gold exploration permits as part of a broader push to reclaim inactive or non-compliant mining licenses.
Bloomberg reports that the permits, issued in 2020 but never renewed, were officially revoked by Mines Minister Bouna Sylla in a statement broadcast on state television late Monday.
The move marks the latest escalation in Guinea's campaign to enforce compliance across its mining sector.
Just weeks after cancelling 51 mineral concessions, the junta has revoked an additional 125 exploration permits for gold, bauxite, diamonds, and iron ore.
The government has pressured Emirates Global Aluminium to accelerate work on an alumina refinery or risk losing its bauxite mining rights.
Endeavour Mining declined to comment on the revocation of its permits, which comes as Guinea—the world's top bauxite producer—seeks to maximise the economic benefits of its mineral wealth.
