Jubilee Metals has commenced production at its Roan concentrator in Zambia after completing extensive processing trials.
These trials confirmed the facility’s ability to extract copper from shallow transitional 'waste' ores at a 65% yield rate.
The company has now secured a long-term feedstock supply agreement based on these results.
"The trials over the past eight weeks have affirmed Roan's unique capabilities to process transitional copper reefs which are available in vast quantities both at surface and in near-surface mining operations,” said Jubilee chief executive Leon Coetzer.
“We are excited to have commenced production under the new supply agreements and will provide more clear guidance as soon as we have sufficient operational data under the supply agreement in the coming weeks."
The Roan concentrator is expected to process 35,000–40,000 tonnes per month of run-of-mine (ROM) feedstock and produce 240–360 tonnes of copper monthly.
Meanwhile, Jubilee’s Munkoyo mine is delivering 3,500 tonnes of high-grade ore monthly to the nearby Sable refinery, with plans to ramp up to 8,500 tonnes by October.
The company also revealed progress on Project G, where resource drilling begins in June. Jubilee aims to replicate Munkoyo’s success by combining on-site ore upgrading with chemical extraction, leveraging existing infrastructure for faster implementation.
