ALROSA has developed a system based on artificial intelligence (AI), which will help in the exploration of new diamond deposits with weak indicator properties in areas with a complex geological structure.
According to the company, the system can accurately identify promising areas for geological exploration and reduce the time it takes to find them. The economic effect of implementing the new technology will amount to hundreds of millions of rubles for each project.
The system is based on the use of neural network algorithms. The company trains the neural network on its own geological data, which the company's geologists and geophysicists have accumulated over the span of more than 50 years, and also integrates it with the corporate geological information system. This allows a specialist to speed up data analysis, make recommendations for searches, and more accurately identify promising exploration areas.
"Our new system is a Russian development, and we are already testing it. After the tests are completed, we will scale it up to all of ALROSA’s projects under development," said the company's CEO Pavel Marinychev.
