Wesizwe Platinum has reported significant progress in the ramp-up of its underground mining operations at the Bakubung platinum mine in South Africa's North West province, with key infrastructure projects advancing ahead of schedule.
In an October 8 update, the company announced that the V1 ventilation shaft and underground Merensky Silo are progressing faster than planned, attributing the accelerated timeline to strong project execution and effective management oversight.
The miner is currently at an advanced stage of negotiating underground development contracts and adjudicating stoping tenders.
Wesizwe emphasised the importance of these agreements for its production timeline.
"The successful conclusion of these agreements will represent a key milestone in accelerating production, enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring the long-term sustainability of underground operations," it said.
