Valterra Platinum Q3 output dips

30 october 2025
Valterra Platinum, formerly Anglo American Platinum, realised declines across its key production metrics compared to the same period last year in its third quarter 2025 production results, released for the period ending 30 September 2025.
The company's own-managed mine production fell by 2% year-on-year to 539,600 ounces of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs).
This was primarily due to lower output from Mototolo, which saw an 11% decline, Unki, which registered an 8% decline, and Amandelbult, which recorded a 3% decline compared to the third quarter of 2024.
Refined PGM production, a measure of finished metal, saw a more pronounced decrease.
Excluding toll-treated material, refined production was down 11% compared to the third quarter of 2024, falling to 981,500 ounces.
On a like-for-like basis, which adjusts for the transition of the Kroondal operation to a tolling arrangement, the decline was 5%.
The volume of PGMs purchased from third-party concentrators also fell by 15% year-on-year to 315,500 ounces.
Consequently, total PGM sales volumes followed this downward trend, decreasing by 15% to 936,800 ounces compared to the same quarter last year.
Despite the quarterly declines, the company reaffirmed its full-year 2025 production guidance.
Valterra Platinum continues to expect to produce between 3 million and 3.2 million ounces of metal-in-concentrate.
