JSE-listed Northam Platinum has reported higher platinum group metals (PGM) and chrome concentrate production for the six months ended December 31, 2025.
Total equivalent refined PGMs from the company's own operations rose by 3.7% year-on-year to 467,818 ounces, while chrome concentrate production increased by 14.8% to 822,759 tonnes.
The company also processed 83,448 equivalent refined PGM ounces from third-party materials, a 39.7% increase from the prior period.
In an operational update, Northam said that its Zondereinde mine in Limpopo is benefiting from improved logistics as mining shifts from the western to higher-yielding eastern sections of the UG2 reef.
The Booysendal mine in Mpumalanga continues to focus on productivity gains, while the Eland mine is showing positive progress in its ramp-up programme, with improvements in both square metres and tonnes mined.
At Zondereinde, development of the western extension continues, with the equipping of 3 Shaft for personnel and material transport nearing completion.
The reaming of the 3a Ventilation Shaft is also ongoing, with both shafts scheduled for commissioning in the first quarter of 2026. These projects are expected to deliver sustainable efficiency benefits, it said.
Additionally, pilot drilling for the new rock-hoisting 4 Shaft is complete, and reaming has commenced.
