The Kimberley Process (KP) has appointed Maryam Al Hashemi as the 2026 Chair of its committee on Participation and Chairmanship (CPC).
Al Hashemi, a veteran of the KP and a senior industry figure, currently serves as the Senior Director of Precious Stones and Metals at DMCC and as the UAE KP Director.
In her role, she has been instrumental in establishing Dubai as a leading diamond trading hub, overseeing a trade exceeding one billion carats in rough and polished diamonds over the past five years.
She also manages the Dubai Diamond Exchange, the world’s largest diamond trading platform.
Al Hashemi brings extensive KP governance experience, having contributed to the UAE’s Vice Chairmanship in 2015, Chairmanship in 2016 and 2024, and a prior term as CPC Chair in 2017.
She leads the world’s only ISO-certified KP Office.
The CPC is a key committee within the Kimberley Process, responsible for evaluating new participants, reviewing compliance, and assessing Vice-Chair candidates.
Its recommendations are critical to maintaining the integrity of the diamond certification scheme.
Al Hashemi’s appointment follows KP protocol where the previous year’s KP Chair assumes the CPC role.
India will chair the broader Kimberley Process in 2026, focusing on consumer confidence, digital traceability, and data-driven compliance.
