The World Diamond Heritage Board (WDHB) has announced that it has handed over the global development and promotion of the World Diamond Day, to be celebrated this year on April 8, to the Natural Diamond Council (NDC).
The first edition of the World Diamond Day is "a moment to pause and celebrate the ultimate symbol of love and emotional connection" and "a reminder that every natural diamond carries a unique and unparalleled magic," WDHB noted.
"Our decision to pass on World Diamond Day to the NDC is, above all, a gesture in service of the natural diamond industry, one that places the Natural Diamond Council at the center of a shared initiative designed to unite the industry around a simple and powerful idea," said WDHB founding member Nicolas Chrétien.
In its turn, the NDC urged jewelers to post images and stories of natural diamonds on social media on April 8 with the World Diamond Day logo. The motto of the event is "One day to celebrate natural diamonds, together."
"Now more than ever, the power of the natural diamond industry lies in its ability to come together with a unified voice," JCK quotes NDC’s CEO Amber Pepper as saying.
"World Diamond Day represents a rare and meaningful moment, one that no other category can so authentically galvanize. In a time of global uncertainty, the values that natural diamonds embody - authenticity, human connection, and enduring meaning - resonate more deeply than ever."
According to WDHB, supporters of the initiative include Ronnie VanderLinden, president of the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA); Yoram Dvash, president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB); and Suresh Hathiramani, former president of the Diamond Exchange of Singapore (DES). Overall, the World Diamond Day has supporters in 40 countries and an estimated 3.6 million potential followers, Chrétien said.
The World Diamond Heritage Board is an independent initiative dedicated to preserving, promoting, and transmitting the cultural, emotional, and historical value of natural diamonds across generations. World Diamond Day is a registered trademark of WDHB.
