There is no significant amount of rare earth metals (REM) in Ukraine, said Ruslan Dimukhamedov, CEO of the Solikamsk Magnesium Plant, in an interview with "Mining Industry. Podcast."
"There is no significant amount of rare earth metals in Ukraine. There are definitely no operating REM deposits there," he said.
According to the expert, Ukraine did indeed have elements of the corresponding technological chain. In particular, titanium-zirconium deposits continue to operate in the country, however, in a strict classification these are rare metals, but not rare earth metals.
"Rare earth metals is just such a good word that you can use it to label anything," Dimukhamedov noted, pointing to the general hype that has developed around these elements in recent years.
