PYBAR signs three new mine development contracts in Australia

15 june 2026

PYBAR, an underground mining company within the Thiess Group, has signed contracts to develop gold and critical minerals projects in Australia.

The signed documents include new agreements at the Sunday Creek Gold-Antimony project and the Fosterville gold mine in Victoria, as well as a contract extension at the Rosebery base metals mine in Tasmania.

Thiess Group CEO and Chairman Michael Wright said these contracts are of great importance to PYBAR.

"From supporting Victoria’s critical minerals pipeline at Sunday Creek, to enabling the next phase of expansion and sustainability at Fosterville, and continuing our partnership at Rosebery – each project demonstrates PYBAR’s ability to deliver safely, reliably and at scale across a range of specialist underground mining services" he noted.

At the Sunday Creek gold-antimony project, 60 km north of Melbourne, Southern Cross Gold Consolidated appointed PYBAR to carry out construction work on the underground inclined shaft.

In a separate agreement, Agnico Eagle appointed PYBAR to provide vertical shaft drilling and shaft lining services at the Fosterville gold mine, 20 km from Bendigo, Victoria. The project involves the development and lining of vertical shafts 374 meters deep and 5.5 meters in diameter, which is crucial for a major mine ventilation upgrade. The infrastructure is designed to improve operational efficiency and support the expansion of the Fosterville mine.

PYBAR also signed a two-year extension to its existing agreement with MMG for shotcrete and cement backfill services at the Rosebery polymetallic mine. Last year, PYBAR signed an additional three-year contract at the Rosebery mine for reclamation and development of underground workings.
