Severalmaz, a subsidiary of Russian diamond producer ALROSA, will suspend its mining operations for three months effective July 1, 2026.
According to the parent company, the step is taken to maintain the "operational and financial stability" and "discipline in terms of effectively managing rough diamond market sales."
The temporary suspension will only affect the mining and transportation of diamond-bearing ore.
"The plant will continue to operate by processing previously accumulated high-grade ore stockpiles," ALROSA explained. "After the suspension is lifted, Severalmaz plans to replenish its diamond ore stockpiles by gradually resuming mining operations."
The diamond company stated that the suspension of mining operations will not affect the workforce.
According to ALROSA, Severalmaz has maintained its diamond production volumes at nearly 3.5 million carats in 2025, the same level as the previous year. The company operates at the M.V. Lomonosov deposit in the Arkhangelsk region of Russia.
