The State Duma of the Russian Federation will consider a draft law on continuous monitoring of geological conditions during the development of solid mineral deposits.
According to the authors of the bill, geological observations carried out during mining will help identify and prevent rock collapses, landslides and mountain impacts, which will increase the safety of mining operations.
At the same time, the government has no plans to introduce new inspections and liability for non-compliance.
Currently, monitoring of the geological environment is carried out in order to estimate the condition of a mine. The data obtained at the geological exploration or engineering survey stages is selective and averaged, and it is not sufficient to predict dangerous situations, identify and map hazardous zones in a timely manner, as stated in the bill.
