Inspectors from Russia’s Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Supervision (Rostekhnadzor) have identified 16 industrial safety violations at the Verkhne-Menkeche silver polymetallic underground mine in the Republic of Yakutia.
The violations resulted in the temporary suspension of two mine workings for three months. Two company officials were held administratively liable and fined.
The most serious violations concerned non-compliance with approved design documentation for mine workings, violations in the organization of downhole ventilation and deficiencies in the preparation of documentation for blasting operations.
