Russia’s Ministry of Natural Resources plans to add titanium to the list of key strategic mineral resources in the country.
If the government approves the decision, titanium will be put under the provisions of the Tax Code, where the metal is already classified as rare.
Thus, titanium will be included in the list of products with a high added value, produced from scarce types of solid ores, in addition to manganese products which are used for the production of lithium-ion batteries and cathode materials.
Russia's titanium reserves are estimated at 580.2 million tonnes.
