Eastplats announces leadership transition, appoints Liu as interim chief executive

07 august 2026

Eastern Platinum has appointed its board of directors chairperson Changyu Liu as interim president and chief executive, effective August 13, 2026.

Liu will succeed Wanjin Yang, who is stepping down from the role.

The company said that its operations will continue in the ordinary course and are not expected to be affected by the leadership transition.

The board and management said that the transition is not related to the company's operations or financial reporting.

The company is conducting a search for a new president and chief executive.

Eastplats owns a number of PGM and chrome assets in South Africa, with operations at the Crocodile River Mine currently including mining and processing ore from the Zandfontein underground section to produce both PGM and chrome concentrates.
