Hong Kong jewellery and luxury goods sales grow into second year in a row

07 august 2026

Jewelry and luxury goods sales in Hong Kong have grown for the 13th consecutive month in June by 20.1% year-on-year to HK$5.49 billion ($700 million), according to the latest report published by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD).

Sales in the "jewelry, watches and clocks, and valuable gifts" category outperformed all other retail segments. Overall sales across all categories increased 4.6% to HK$31.5 billion ($4.02 billion) over the same period.

"Growth was broad-based across many retail categories," a government spokesperson said. "Continued economic expansion, rising local incomes, and a steady increase in inbound visitors are expected to provide support to the sector."

However, the C&SD cautioned that external uncertainty poses a downside risk. Luxury goods sales growth of 20.1% was slightly lower than the 25.8% increase in May.

June 2025 marked a turning point after many months of contraction. Market growth was observed in each subsequent month, peaking at 27.2% in March 2026, according to Hong Kong authorities.
