The Russian government has postponed the introduction of an 8% export duty on rough diamonds by six months - from September 1, 2026, to March 1, 2027.
This is confirmed by a government decree posted on the official website for the publication of legal acts.
Previously, the country's authorities decided to levy an 8% duty on the export of rough and partially processed natural diamonds outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
This applies to diamonds weighing between 0.45 and 10.8 carats, as well as specials.
RIA Novosti quotes deputy finance minister Alexei Moiseyev, who noted that the annual budget revenue from the diamond export duty is estimated to be "insignificant."
