Norilsk Nickel has announced that the nameplate capacity of its gold recovery plant (GRP) at the Bystrinsky deposit in Russia’s Trans-Baikal Territory will amount to 2.7 million tonnes of ore per year.
In its set of documents prepared for the 2026 Eastern Economic Forum, cited by RIA Novosti, Nornickel said that in addition to the GRP, it will modernise the processing facilities of the mine.
Among the planned pieces of equipment to be commissioned are the two high-pressure grinding rolls. The first will increase the grinding section's capacity by 350,000 tonnes of ore per year, while the second will elevate the processing capacity of the whole plant by more than 1 million tonnes per year, to 13 million tonnes per year.
Earlier, Nornickel reported that construction of the processing plant is scheduled for completion in February 2027, and commissioning is scheduled for late 2027 or early 2028.
Bystrinsky Mining and Processing Plant (MPP) mines and processes ore from the Bystrinsky polymetallic deposit using open-pit mining, and outputs copper, iron ore, and gold concentrates. By-product gold output is approximately 8 tonnes per year.
