A 24 kilogram sample of ore from Paragon Diamonds’ Motete Dyke project in Lesotho has yielded more than two rough diamonds per kilogram, the diamond company announced last Wednesday on its website, Israelidiamond.co.il reported.
The sample contained a total of 49 diamonds, the largest of which was over 1.18 millimeters. Aside from one brown diamond, all the stones recovered in the sample were classed as colorless.
Paragon Diamonds Managing Director Stephen Grimmer said that the initial result confirmed the license’s “diamondiferous characteristics and indicates the potential quality of [its] diamonds.”
Grimmer said the company was gaining confidence as it prepared to launch a more comprehensive sampling program.
