Leo Schachter Diamonds Ltd. ranked as Israel’s top polished diamond exporter in 2011 unseating Lev Leviev’s L.L.D. Diamonds which held the position for the previous 10 years, Rapaport reported.
According to the annual list of Israel’s top 25 diamond exports published by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor, Leo Schachter’s exports increased by 12 percent year on year to $403 million during 2011. The company had ranked in second place for the past few years.
M.I.D. House of Diamonds Ltd. ranked second on the ministry’s list, up from third position in 2010, as its exports grew 49 percent to $239 million. A.A. Rachminov Diamonds (2000) Ltd. climbed one spot to rank in third place as its exports rose 76 percent to $216 million. E.Z. Diamonds Ltd. ranked fourth with exports up 44 percent to $140 million, followed by Yoshfe Diamonds International Ltd. rounding out the top five after its exports increased 43 percent to $130 million.
The list is not a complete reflection of Israel’s top exporters as it excludes companies that request that their figures not be published. L.L.D. Diamonds was not on the 2011 list. Earlier in January, the ministry reported that Israel’s total exports rose 24 percent to $7.2 billion in 2011.
