Yury Trutnev, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, held a working meeting with Joaquim Augusto de Lemos, Ambassador Extraordinary of the Republic of Angola. The announcement of this meeting came in the ministry’s press release received by Rough & Polished.
The parties discussed the issues related to preparations for the second session of the Intergovernmental Russian-Angolan Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation and Trade scheduled to take place in Luanda in February 2012.
During the meeting the minister and the ambassador also discussed ways to improve the legal framework between both States, including the degree of willingness to sign the intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements, as well as the ability to carry out specific projects with the participation of companies from both countries.
Yuri Trutnev in particular said: "In 2011, Russia and Angola tripled their turnover to $32.2 million. This level does not fully meet the capacities of the two countries." The minister stressed that there had already been outlined specific projects for further cooperation and it was necessary to proceed with their implementation.
Currently, the parties plan to sign several agreements in various fields and they agreed to expedite the process of document preparation.
After the meeting, the minister congratulated the ambassador on assuming office and expressed hope for further successful cooperation.
On the Russian side, the talks were attended by Nuritdin Inamov, Director of International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology, as well as by the representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia and Russian Foreign Ministry.
