The third exclusive Diamond Fair runs from January 29 to 31 in Antwerp, Belgium, which is the capital of the world diamond business.
Similar to the previous trading sessions in 2011 and 2010, the fair is held behind closed doors - the event is available only by invitation.
This year it involves about two hundred of diamond retailers from Europe, Middle East and Asia, including buyers from Russia, Ukraine, Lebanon, UAE, India and China.
Its diverse range of diamonds in the halls of the two oldest stock exchanges in Antwerp – Diamond Bourse (Beurs voor Diamanthandel) and Antwerp Diamond Club - represent about sixty diamond firms.
According to Ari Epstein, CEO of Antwerp World Diamond Centre), which is the main sponsor of the fair, this time its main purpose was to determine the range of retailers of diamond jewelry which have not yet visited Antwerp.
"By inviting leading jewelry retailers and jewelry designers to visit the heart of the diamond district in Antwerp, we give them the opportunity to see all the fun that can offer Antwerp, so we should step up promotion of the fair among jewelers from Europe and other regions which are not yet fully aware of the power and potential of our diamond center, "- said Epstein.
The second edition of Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair was held from January 30 to February 1, 2011 with the participation of 60 exhibitors - Antwerp diamond manufacturing companies - and about 300 invited visitors from 200 companies.
Antwerp now accounts for 80% of sales of rough diamonds and over 50% of polished diamond sales. Diamond business directly and indirectly provides income to 34 thousand inhabitants of Antwerp.
