ALROSA’s revenue following the 49th edition of its international auction for special-size rough diamonds (weighing over 10.8 carats) reached $46.3 million. The company’s press office reported that the auction concluded on 17 February, 2012, featured a total of 390 lots containing rough stones provided by ALROSA, ALROSA-Nyurba and Almazy Anabara, according to Finmarket.ru.
ALROSA put up on sale 868 rough diamonds totally weighing approximately 15,000 carats. The largest stone offered during the auction was 204.44 carats in size.
ALROSA sold 362 lots worth $46.3 million. The company's pre-sales estimate for the stones has been exceeded by 90%.
ALROSA reported that the recent auction attracted 73 Russian and foreign companies from Belgium, Israel, India, China, the UAE and the United States having positive business reputation and focused on trading in large rough and polished diamonds.
