The BaselWorld 2012 exhibition opened up this week, with 17 Israeli diamond firms participating, Israelidiamond.co.il reported. The Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI) operates a prominently placed information and image booth in Hall 3.1, NO1. The Israeli diamond companies will exhibit in Hall 3, the loose diamond hall.
On Friday IDI was to host its annual press lunch at the Basel Convention Center in the Osaka - Samarkand Congress Room. As in previous years, Eli Avidar, IDI Managing Director, unveiled the Israeli diamond industry's new strategic marketing campaign for the coming year.
As it does every year, the watch hall (hall 1) draws maximum attention. It seems that every respected company is unveiling a diamond-studded watch collection this year. The most notable of which is luxury Swiss watchmaker Hublot, which is introducing an exquisite watch valued at $5 million, set with 1,282 diamonds, including baguette diamonds weighing more than 100 carat and 6 emerald cut diamonds weighing more than 3 carat each.
