Polished prices slide further in April

The downward trend in polished diamond prices which began last August continued through April, Polishedprices.com reported. The overall PolishedPrices index finished the month at 152.9, 0.4% below the level at the end of March.
The average for April stood at 152.5 points, 0.4% below the March average but and 4.7% above the average for April 2011.
Prices remained very volatile throughout the month and a sharp pick up in the final week put the current level of the index exactly in line with our forecast made at the start of the year.
It is too early to say, however, that this actually marks the turning point that we were forecasting.
