ALROSA held an international auction for special size diamonds

ALROSA reported that International Diamond Auction 53N it had organized to sell special size diamonds completed its work on July 10, 2012 in Moscow. During the period from May 14 to July 6, 2012 the auction participants could familiarize themselves with diamonds offered for sale. The auction featured diamonds produced by ALROSA and ALROSA-Nyurba (51 lots). All in all, the buyers were offered 51 high-quality stones totally weighing more than 1,000 carats. The largest diamond auctioned weighed 79.65 carats. The auction was attended by customers from 66 companies from Russia, the United States, Belgium, Israel, India, China, and UAE, specializing in operations with large rough and polished diamonds and having a high business reputation. As a result, ALROSA sold 39 lots for more than $13.5 million. Given the starting price of the stones, the company raked in about 59% in excess.
