HRD Antwerp Opens Diamond Certification Lab in Mumbai

01 august 2012

HRD Antwerp’s first diamond lab outside Antwerp has come into operation in Mumbai, Rough&Polished were reported at the company.
With this new facility, HRD Antwerp will offer quality certification services that reflect its pledge to ensure compliance with the same stringent quality standards applied in Antwerp, where its parent lab is located. The new facility is staffed with both local and Antwerp expert gemmologists.
HRD Antwerp in Mumbai services include full HRD Antwerp Diamond Certificate, Diamond Identification Report (for diamonds under 1.00 ct), Preliminary Examination (You want to have your diamond graded, but first need to make sure that some of its characteristics are up to standards before ordering a full certificate), Follow-up Examination (updates and duplicates), Sealing or Re-Sealing and Transit (After the completion of a preliminary examination the results are communicated before a full certificate is ordered. The diamond remains in so-called “transit”.)
According to Georges Brys, General Manager of HRD Antwerp, the Indian market is expected to grow with 13% annually, and therefore the setup of a local diamond lab was a rational option. HRD Antwerp has invested in state-of-the-art equipment that will allow the diamond lab to introduce its quality standards in India. It goes without saying that the same security features and grading procedures are observed in the new facility. It is HRD Antwerp’s aim to export the HRD Antwerp label and to support consumer confidence in the global diamond industry.
