Angola earned $1.1 bln from diamond exports in 2011

Angola racked-in $1.14 billion from diamond exports last year, it said in a report to the Kimberley Process.
The southern African country said that the majority of the diamond revenue came from Dubai, which imported stones valued at $537 million carats from Angola during the period under review.
Israel also consumed Angola’s diamonds worth about $249 million, while Switzerland imported gems valued at $216 million.
Meanwhile, Angola said that it produced 8.56 million carats during the year, of which 4 million carats were exported to Dubai, while 2.3 million carats went to Switzerland and 1.1 million carats to Israel.
