Desmet Investments, which is contracted by Namdeb to prospect and mine diamonds in southern Namibia, is in need of N$10-million ($1.2 million) to acquire sophisticated mining equipment.
The contract diamond miner seeks to deploy a mining vessel in the shallow water areas, which would be fitted with a full mining treatment plant onboard and would utilise the latest seabed visualisation software.
Additional technological mining equipment would be acquired to improve mining efficiency and output. The contract area is within Namdeb's offshore mining license areas, constituting a sea bed area along the Namibian coast, extending to three kilometers seawards from the low water line up to the depth of 30 meters.
