Lonrho Mining has recovered two big diamonds at the Lulo diamond project, which it operates together with the Angolan state-owned diamond company, Endiama.
Lonrho said in a statement that it had uncovered a 131.5 carat diamond, the largest yet found on the concession, and a 38.3 carat diamond, which is the third largest uncovered since the opening of a dense media separation plant onsite two years ago.
Lonhro managing director Miles Kennedy said the find showed the project had a great potential.
"Given the incredible size of this diamond, there is little doubt the kimberlite source is very close by," he said.
Lonrho was set to commence drilling at 61 targeted kimberlite sites throughout the project.
