ALROSA Sends Condolences to the Families of Dead Mineworkers

On 26th of August, 2012, an incident took place at Udachny underground mine which is under construction within the scope of Udachny mining and concentration complex of AK ALROSA. The explosion of methane-air mixture occurred at the depth of 365 meters at the mine.

As Rough&Polished were reported at the company, a total of 17 people appeared to be in disaster zone at the moment of explosion. Four of twelve people who managed to escape from the mine were injured and hospitalized.

At present time examination and investigation into the circumstances of the incident are being conducted with the active engagement and participation of all services and structures of the mining and concentration complex.

The management of diamond mining company ALROSA, on behalf of the whole personnel of diamond region of Yakutia, expresses deep condolences to the relatives and families of the workers died due to the incident.

ALROSA undertakes to give essential support to the injured employees and the families of dead mineworkers.
