Washington Diamonds Corp., a producer of Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) diamonds, announced last week that its lab-grown polished diamonds were available to consumers. It added that the diamonds are certified by the American Gemological Society (AGS), Israelidiamond.co.il reports citing IDEX Online.
The stones may be the first laboratory-grown diamonds manufactured in the United States of America, according to Diamond News.
“The technology to grow a diamond by CVD has been around for 30 years, but only recently has it become possible to provide CVD diamonds without compromising cut or quality and at a price that is less than a mined diamond,” said Clive Hill, founder and President of Washington Diamonds. “Not only are these beautiful diamonds of verifiable authenticity, they provide exceptional value. Our grown diamonds typically cost 20% to 30% less than a mined stone of the same size, cut and quality.”
According to the company, most of its stones produce one-carat cut-and-polished diamonds though some could be more than two carats.
The company said its diamonds will be distributed exclusively on the Internet through leading global distributors and partners.
