BHP Billiton has reduced diamond production by 31.5% in 1Q

The world's largest mining company - BHP Billiton posted operating results for the first quarter of 2012-2013 fiscal year (ended on September, 30) having reduced its diamond production by 31.5% to 313,000 carats, according to BHP’s press release.
However, in July-September BHP Billiton registered a year-on-year increase of iron ore production by 0.5% to 39.77 million tons; copper production rose by 76.3% to 141,000 tonnes, nickel production accreted 5.4% to 37,000 tonnes, zinc output increased by 10.6% to 26,000 tonnes.
BHP’s output of lead decreased by 6.2% to 52.0 million tonnes during the period in report, while aluminum production dropped by 14.3% to 270,000 tonnes, and alumina production, in contrast, grew by 10.4% to 1.170 million tonnes.
BHP Billiton noted that its silver production in the period in report barely increased to 9.165 million ounces compared to 9.151 million ounces following the same period in 2011, and gold production decreased by 17.8% to 32.436 ounces. Coking coal production decreased by 3.8% to 8.94 million tonnes and coal production increased by 6.2% to 19.607 million tonnes.
