New York Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) president Reuven Kaufman announced that following meetings with the leadership of major diamond bourses at the recent WFDB World Diamond Congress in Mumbai, major DDC trade missions would be scheduled in the next few months and include Dubai, Shanghai and Bangkok, Rough&Polished were reported at WFDB.
According to Kaufman, the WFDB Congress represented a unique opportunity to conduct one-on-one conversations about inter-bourse trade with the senior officials of many of the clubs that are WFDB members.
"I am pleased to report to our membership that one of the tangible results of the Mumbai Congress was agreement to have DDC members join together in trade delegations to key trading centers," said Kaufman. He added that, "DDC members would have a special opportunity to do business with prominent diamantaires in major markets as well as to establish positive relationships that could lead to future trade.”
The DDC's president expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the bourses who agreed to host the DDC trade missions. These included Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the executive chairman of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre and Peter Meeus, the chairman of the board of directors at the Dubai Diamond Exchange; Lin Qiang, the president and Caroline Yuan, the director of the Shanghai Diamond Exchange; Pichet Romhuttirerk, the secretary-general of the Bangkok Diamonds & Precious Stones Exchange and, Suttipong Damrongsakul, the managing director of the Gemopolis Industrial Estate, Bangkok.
