Smolensk-based Kristall will supply rough diamonds to Vinnitsa on give-and-take basis

04 december 2012

According to a press release distributed by Kristall, a Russian diamond manufacturer based in Smolensk, its management held talks with the management of another diamond manufacturer of the same name, Kristall based in Vinnitsa, Ukraine, on November 30. Both sides agreed on a number of issues, including the amount of rough to be supplied to Vinnitsa on a give-and-take basis in 2013.
It was also decided that one half of the agreed amount earmarked for the Ukrainian factory will be delivered by Kristall in Smolensk, while the rest will be shipped by its Belgian subsidiary, Smolensk Diamonds. Smolensk-based Kristall has been cooperating with Vinnitsa for more than 15 years. This is the only company which remained in Ukraine from the former Kristall group of companies.
The work record of the Kristall Factory in Vinnitsa started on March 1, 1973 when it produced its first polished diamond weighing 0.13 carats. During 35 years, this manufacturer turned out about 70 million diamonds worth $ 1.2 billion, having processed about one tonne of rough.
