Israel Diamond Week in New York Called a Success

11 december 2012

Organizers of a week-long meeting between diamond traders from New York and Israel received gratitude from participants who told them that the summit exceeded their expectations, Israelidiamond.co.il reports. Israel Diamond Week was considered such a success that its organizers agreed to extend it by another day, going until Thursday.
The meeting between the two leading diamond industry centers was conceived by the presidents of the respective diamond bourses of New York and Israel when they conversed at a diamond conference in Mumbai, India earlier in the autumn.
Managing Director of the Israel Diamond Exchange Moti Besser called the event a huge success and stressed that it was just the beginning. New York Diamond Dealers Club president Reuven Kaufman noted that by bringing trade to the main hall of the bourse, they were reversing a trend which has seen modern computerized transactions overtake the central spaces, pushing personal interactions to side rooms. Kaufman also pointed out that the 50 companies that arrived from Israel wildly surpassed the initial predictions that only between 15 and 20 firms would join in.
