Firestone Diamonds said it recorded revenues of $5.1 million from 63,991 carats of diamonds sold during the October and November diamond tenders.
The diamond junior said in a statement emailed to Rough&Polished that a total of 47,658 carats were sold during the October tender realising $3,554,091 at an average price of $75 per carat.
A total of 16,333 carats were also sold during the November tender for $1,565,708 averaging $96 per carat.
All of the parcels tendered were sold and no large stones were included, it said.
“The 28 percent increase in diamond prices achieved between October and November 2012 tenders is primarily due to the higher quality, better shaped, unbroken white stones that were on sale in the November 2012 tender,” said Firestone chief executive Tim Wilkes.
“These type 2A and high colour white stones were recovered from the upper benches of the K2 ore that was mined during the period leading up to the tender.”
