AWDC mulls mission to Angola - report

24 july 2013

The Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) is planning a mission to Angola in October to push for synergies with the local diamond industry.
Rapaport reports that AWDC president Stephane Fischler had said last month that the Belgians look forward to sharing its experience and knowledge with the Angolan government to ensure a profitable diamond industry.
High-level meetings between the participating Antwerp diamond companies and key players of the Angolan diamond industry, such as government officials, representatives from Sodiam and Endiama, and local and international diamond mining and manufacturing companies were expected to take place, reports Rapaport.
The mission was set for October 20 to 27.
Angola, which recently became the world’s fourth top diamond producer by value, was celebrating 100 years of diamond mining in the country.
