Angolan geology and mining minister Francisco Queiroz has sworn Paulo Mvika as the executive coordinator of the National Commission of Kimberly Process.
The commission supervises and coordinates all activities regarding the implementation of KP resolutions in Angola.
Angop news agency quoted Queiróz as saying that the commission should ensure that it maintained a clean image of the country as far as diamond trading was concerned.
Angola was elected as the KP deputy chairperson for the year 2014 and was set to take over as chair from China in 2015.
Angola was one of the countries that joined KP in 2003, the year it was established in South Africa.
The southern African country was among the five biggest diamond producers in the world in terms of value and the 10th biggest producer in volume terms.
It produced 8.3 million carats in 2012.
