President of AK ALROSA Fyodor Andreev expects the deal with Rosneft involving disposal of the company’s oil & gas assets to be closed in the first quarter of 2014, Advis.ru reported citing the recent statement of Andreev at Russia 24 TV Channel.
In September Rosneft agreed acquisition of oil and gas assets belonging to ALROSA — Geotransgaz, Urengoy Gas Company, Irelyakhneft and Alrosa-Gas, located in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area and in Yakutia, for $1.38 billion.
Thereinafter it was announced that Rosneft would reconsider certain parameters of the transaction due to the fact that one of the wells was empty and $1.38 billion could be an excessive price.
According to the agreement signed at the end of 2013 Rosneft has the right to postpone the implementation of the deal till March 31, 2014.
ALROSA had planned to allocate proceeds from the sale of gas assets for short-term debt redemption.
