Lucapa records more “exceptional” diamond grades at Lulo

12 december 2014

Lucapa Diamond Company said it achieved diamond grades of 35.02 carats per 100 cubic metres from a final BLK_29 alluvial bulk sample at its Lulo diamond concession in Angola.
It said in a statement that the average size of the diamonds recovered from BLK_29 was 1.81carats.
The sample includes the presence of large Type IIa diamonds, which are rare and the most valuable category of white diamonds.
“The economic merits of the alluvial mining operation continue to be supported by the final results of bulk sample BLK_29,” said Lucapa director Stephen Wetherall.
"The consistent recovery of special diamonds (>10carats) at large average stones sizes and high grades continue to indicate the exceptional nature of the yet largely unexplored diamond province”.
